Walking with Carpenter’s THE THING

The doctor shouts ‘Clear’ and lowers the defibrillators onto his fallen companion’s chest. As he does this, the man’s chest opens into a gaping, jawed mouth and catches the doctor’s hands, ripping them off. The doctor falls to the floor with his arm-stumps gushing blood that’s been made from a cocktail of jam, mayonnaise, gelatin, cream corn and whatever else they used in the good old days.

A monstrous head on a spine emerges from the chest, which Kurt Russell duly despatches with his flame-thrower. Meanwhile, the man’s head acquires a life of its own, detaches itself from the burning body and grows a pair of spider legs. Once again, it’s down to Kurt to burn the hell out of the creature.

This is a scene from John Carpenter’s 1982 classic, The Thing; the film that represents the pinnacle of prosthetic and animatronic-based special effects in horror films.

Bye Bye Jennifer Aniston Pregnant Rumour

By dazzling crowds at the 64th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards in a tight-fitting black dress, Jennifer Aniston has put to bed rumours that she's expecting her first child. Earlier this month reports had suggested that the ex-Friends actress was six months pregnant by her boyfriend Justin Theroux and was apparently seen during a recent outing hiding her stomach under a wide coat

"She wouldn’t have wanted to make a big deal but she must be so excited. "If anyone ever asked if she was worried about running out of time, she’d reply, ‘I’m absolutely having kids there’s not one doubt in my mind’.” A source also told Look magazine.

With no sign of her supposed baby bump, however, Aniston quashed the allegations by stepping out last night (29th January) in short Dolce & Gabbana LBD. Jen attended the event held at the Grand Ballroom in Hollywood with Justin, as she was up for the Movies For Television and Mini-Series gong for Five - alongside Demi Moore and Alicia Keys.

With the 42-year old slamming accusations last October that she might be expecting after being snapped leaving a clinic with Theroux, Aniston has been dogged with pregnancy rumours for years.

Minor Thing Secret About Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe had to decide, and he didn't make that decision lightly, what his first starring film role would be after the "Harry Potter" franchise ended in 2011. Despite demonstrating his acting range by starring in "Equus" and "How to Succeed in Business" on Broadway, the pressure was on for Radcliffe to prove he could play more than Potter on the big screen.

"The Woman in Black," a dark thriller about a recently widowed father who is haunted by his wife's death, has chosen by him . The movie will be in theaters Feb. 3. "I never expected the first thing I did after `Potter' to be a horror film or anything like that. That was one of the reasons it was intriguing to me as well because it was so unexpected," Radcliffe said in a recent interview. Growing up fast, getting praise from actor Sean Connery, who starred in James Bond films, and why he isn't ready to marry his longtime girlfriend, that's what he also talked about.

What Will Be Become In Animated

The most fascinating — and startling — category was animated feature film when nominations were announced this week for the 84th Academy Awards. “The Adventures of Tintin” – which won the Golden Globe in that category – wasn’t nominated at all.

As did two international entries — “Chico &Rita” and “A Cat in Paris” – that present vibrant adventures with a classic hand-drawn approach, instead, Gore Verbinski’s old West adventureRango” made the list. Rounding out the category were two DreamWorks Animation releases, “Puss in Boots” and “Kung Fu Panda 2,” and don’t think for a minute that went over well at the Emeryville headquarters of Pixar.

There was still hope that it would bring home the automatic Oscar nomination that has become a Pixar tradition though “Cars 2″ didn’t win over critics. No one was happier about the nominations than Guillermo del Toro, who is now working closely with DreamWorks Animation on its projects.

James Farentino Passed Away in Los Angeles

US actor James Farentino has died aged 73. He who appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows, passed away at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles from heart failure, spokesman Bob Palmer said.

The 1980 science fiction film The Final Countdown, in which he starred alongside Kirk Douglas was one of his most well known films. In 1967, he won a Golden Globe newcomer award for his role in The Pad and How to Use It.

Farentino went on to land recurring roles on popular shows such as Dynasty, Melrose Place and The Bold Ones: The Lawyers, one of the last contract performers with Universal Studios in the 1960s. He also appeared several times in ER as George Clooney's estranged father.

He was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Saint Peter in the television mini-series Jesus of Nazareth, in 1978. In 1994 their relationship made headlines after the actor pleaded no contest to stalking her.

The Transformers TV Series In Roots

"More Than Meets the Eye" pilot/mini-series : The Transformers (TV series)
First aired in the United States in September 1984, then in the United Kingdom in early 1985, the three-part mini-series was animated by Japan's famous Toei Animation studio.

Where they warred for the resources that would take them back home, the pilot introduced Optimus Prime's Autobots (Brawn, Bluestreak, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Gears, Hound, Huffer, Ironhide, Jazz, Mirage, Prowl, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker, Wheeljack, Windcharger, and Hauler (who was seen only in vehicle mode, had no dialogue and was not seen again in the animated series)) and Megatron's Decepticons (Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Reflector (leader Viewfinder, Spyglass & Spectro), Soundwave and his cassette spies (Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, Rumble and Frenzy), and Shockwave (who stayed behind to guard Cybertron under Megatron's orders), transplanting them from their metallic homeworld of Cybertron to present-day Earth.

The Decepticons defeated and the Autobots poised to return to Cybertron, but this was blurred somewhat when the series was picked up for continuation, and the Autobots remained on the planet to protect it from renewed Decepticon threats, has to be the conclusion of the series. The Autobots make friends with their first two human allies, Spike Witwicky and his father Sparkplug Witwicky. A paraplegic computer whiz named Chip Chase became an additional ally in a few episodes later.

The Building Empire of Jennifer Aniston

As they have reportedly planned to buy a 22-million-dollar home together in Bel-Air, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have taken their relationship to the next level. The 8,500-square-foot home was listed for 24.9 million dollars. The 3-acre compound boasts a guesthouse, pool and vineyard.

Since 2008, the owner, Robert Maguire, is the founder of a real estate company, and had put the home on and off the market repeatedly. According to The Wall Street Journal, the four-bedroom midcentury home, designed by A. Quincy Jones, has floor-to-ceiling glass windows and ocean views, the New York Daily News reported.

Sony Pictures Classics Thrilled Lee's Movie

To Lee Toland Krieger's "Celeste and Jesse Forever", Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all rights for North America, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg star in the film as high school sweethearts who get divorced and attempt to remain best friends while pursuing other relationships.

With Will McCormack, who co-stars along with Chris Messina, Ari Graynor, Emma Roberts and Elijah Wood, Jones wrote the script. Team Todd principals Jennifer Todd and Suzanne Todd produced the pic with Lee Nelson of Envision Media Arts, which financed the film.

UTA's Independent Film Group was negotiating the deal. "No recent movie is more current, more perceptive or more fun than 'Celeste and Jesse Forever,'" Sony Classics said in a statement. "Lee Toland Krieger has made a major film. The cast is superlative and it is an obvious labor of love for Rashida Jones and Will McCormack."

"We are thrilled our film has found a home with Sony Pictures Classics and are incredibly excited to work with Michael (Barker), Tom (Bernard) and Dylan (Leiner). Their track record is unparalleled." In a joint statement, the producers said.

Children Of The Animation Movie

Beat out Hollywood heavyweights Steven Spielberg and Pixar Animation Studios to collect surprise nominations in Oscar's peculiar animated feature race Tuesday, two obscure foreign movies being released by a tiny New York company. The French thriller "A Cat in Paris" and Spanish musical "Chico & Rita" - primarily hand-drawn movies little known outside the animation world - bested high-profile projects from perennial academy favorites Spielberg ("The Adventures of Tintin") and Pixar ("Cars 2").

Which Paramount is re-releasing for a limited one-week engagement Friday, and the DreamWorks Animation titles "Kung Fu Panda 2" and "Puss in Boots", three computer-animated Hollywood movies also made the list - Gore Verbinski's western comedy "Rango". "I'm amazed by the selection," said "Puss in Boots" director Chris Miller. "It's really wide open. It's been that way since the awards season kicked in. There's a lot of great films and different styles from some different countries. There's a lot of tradition in that part of the academy and respect for diversity."

The eligible Pixar film was not nominated, for the first time since the animated feature category was created in 2001. "For the last few years we've had a Pixar front-running film that was miles ahead of the other films," said animation historian Jerry Beck, editor of the website Cartoon Brew. "But this wasn't their year. Visually and technically, 'Cars 2' has got all the craft, but story-wise it was a kids' picture."

In which cameras record the movement of actors, then visual-effects artists and animators add to the performances, "Tintin" was made using the hybrid filmmaking technique of motion capture. How to treat "Tintin" was a matter of some debate in the animation community, however. Which received an Oscar nomination for its visual effects, the same method was used to create the hyper-intelligent animals in the live-action movie "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".

Dark Wolf Live On

A hip, very horroric twist on the werewolf thriller, this atmospheric horror film adds a a wickedly appetite to the bloodthirsty cravings of its monster. A vicious werewolf stalks the streets of Los Angeles. Between killings, its desperate goal is to mate with unsuspecting Josie, who is unaware of her special power attracting the beast. Forced to take over an investigation involving werewolves after his partner is killed, an LAPD Detective is led to the trail of this ravenously deadly hybrid werewolf. This unstoppable beast is in LA to find the next matriarch of the pure-bred werewolves so that it can mate with her before the night is over and continue the werewolf lineage. Josie, becomes his target and the cop must find a way to rescue her and ultimately the entire human race which will become extinct if the mating occures.

Darkwolf is a waste of videotape. What could have been a cool movie (it had the female werewolf, nice start) ends right their with too much visuals. The CGI was laughable and the storyline with the female werewolf is not explored fully enough.

The vampire warrioress Selene leads the battle

Underworld Awakening Movie

With a quick recap of the first two movies (conveniently skipping the third, which star Kate Beckinsale sat out), the fourth entry in this profitable B-movie series helpfully brings its viewers up to speed. The comely British actress — also currently being seen in theaters as the wife-in-peril in "Contraband" -- has returned to once again don the skintight black latex outfit that is these films’ biggest draw to fanboys. More aggressively violent and thankfully less mythology driven than previous installments, "Underworld Awakening" is strictly for the converted.

Since the 38-year-old actress doesn’t seem to have aged a day, this film begins with vampiress Selene waking up after being in a cryogenically frozen state for 12 years, a convincing plot element. Apparently we humans have gotten hip to the preponderance of Lycans — werewolves, to the uninitiated — and bloodsuckers in their midst, and have made determined efforts to eradicate them.

With the requisite athleticism and steely facial expressions, the actress goes through her energetic paces and an awful lot of wire work. “I’m not good with feelings,” Selene accurately points out when she’s not actually fighting, her performance consists of little more than striding purposefully towards or away from the camera.

Paraded up the Golden Globe Awards red carpet

On Sunday ahead of the ceremony honoring the year’s best films and TV shows hosted by acerbic comedian Ricky Gervais, hollywood A-listers including George Clooney paraded up the Golden Globe Awards’ red carpet.

Where prizes are given to actors, actresses, directors and producers in precursor of the more staid Oscars later this year, the British funnyman returns to the Golden Globe stage for the third straight year to host the champagne-soaked bash. Along with Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and numerous others were expected to walk the fashion-filled red carpet ahead of dinner and the program.

Clooney looked dapper in gray, Gervais arrived early in a crimson and black tuxedo. “Modern Family” TV star Sofia Vergara showed off a form-fitting, teal-colored Vera Wang gown and Harry Winston jewels. Many actresses wore strapless dresses or had plunging necklines and hand-tied bowties were a must among men. With black tie around his neck, of course, Uggie the dog from most-nominated film “The Artist” put his four paws on the carpet.

"The Killing" will return Sunday April 1

Or at least offer you more to fume about: AMC's "The Killing" will return Sunday, April 1, with a two-hour season premiere, one of last year's most divisive cliffhangers is about to get a resolution. The announcement was one of several from the network Saturday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

"Breaking Bad" will return for its fifth season in the third quarter of this year, and that the third season of "The Walking Dead" will be 16 episodes, rather than the 13 episodes for the current, second season, according to AMC. "The Killing" return date will seem appropriate to viewers who felt fooled by the first season's finale. It seemed to solve the season-long mystery of who killed Rosie Larsen, then suddenly threw viewers a final twist that made us question everything we had seen before.

It won't answer the big one: AMC also said Saturday that Larsen's killer won't be revealed until the second season finale, while the premiere will address some lingering questions. "The Killing" Season 2 premiere will air at 8 p.m., with future episodes airing at 9 p.m.

It will be the first two-hour premiere for the show, the network also confirmed that "Mad Men" will return Sunday, March 25, at 9 p.m. -- with another two-hour premiere.

During an interview with the "Doug Loves Movies" podcast, Star Jon Hamm previously announced the date . The show will return to its normal 10 p.m. timeslot after the season premiere. The network also confirmed the Feb. 12 debut date for Kevin Smith's new unscripted series "Comic Book Men." After "The Walking Dead" returns at 9 for the second half of its second season, it will premiere at 10 p.m.

Girl Scout Cookies Profits

Girl Scout Cookies Profits
Cookie sale is operated by Each Girl Scout. Approximately 70% of the proceeds stay in the local Girl Scout council to support Girl Scouting in that area, including a portion that goes directly to the group selling the cookies. The profits are divided by a formula, with local troops receiving about 10-15% of the retail price, the council more than 50%, and the manufacturer the remainder. Girl Scouts sold 175 million boxes of cookies nationwide in 1992.

Events and activities for the Girl Scouts, maintenance of the councils' Girl Scout camps and other properties, cookie sale incentives, and Council administrative costs are paid by revenues at all levels. In 2008, 15-year-old Jennifer Sharpe from Dearborn, Michigan sold 17,328 boxes of cookies, a record for her troop and possibly an all-time record.

Large national commercial bakeries under license from Girl Scouts of the USA made Girl Scout cookies. The bakers licensed by the organization may change from year to year, though this is not common. In 2008 the licensed companies were Little Brownie Bakers (LBB), a subsidiary of Keebler, which is owned by Kellogg's, and ABC Bakers, a subsidiary of Interbake Foods LLC, which is owned by George Weston Limited. Since 1936, ABC Bakers has been licensed to produce Girl Scout cookies.

In The Adventures of Tintin (in theaters Dec. 21), Steven Spielberg's relentlessly boisterous 3-D adaptation of the Belgian action-adventure comic strip, the figures on screen rarely stop moving. Steven Spielberg is an audacious master of kinetic action poetry.

Every frame is designed to capture as much motion as possible, Tintin has been animated with motion capture, and that's the perfect term, too, for its kiddie Indiana Jones aesthetic. Tintin, a boy reporter with a cowlick and an eager, wholesome Hardy Boys attitude (he's voiced by Jamie Bell), and the man he teams up with, the gruff, bearded drunken seaman Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis), are searching for lost treasure, and that's about all there is to the plot — it's that basic.

Over and over, the two bounce from ocean liner to rowboat to propeller plane, then land in the Sahara, with a detour to a hallucinated pirate ship run, leap, fall, bound, shoot through the air, and plunge.

Run Dr Richard Kimble... Run

Harrison Ford as a surgeon wrongly accused of the murder of his wife. He escapes from a prison transport bus (in one of the most spectacular stunt-action sequences ever filmed) and embarks on a frantic quest for the true killer's identity, while a tenacious U.S. marshal (Tommy Lee Jones, in an Oscar-winning role) remains hot on his trail. Fate, however, gives Dr Richard Kimble (Ford) a second chance when his prison bus is involved in an accident with a train and he escapes, determined to find the real killer and clear his name.

Genres: Drama, Thriller and Action/Adventure
On the cinema, VHS and pre-2001 DVD release of this film, an engineer can be seen looking down at Harrison Ford when the latter is taking shelter from the runaway derailed locomotive. Producer Peter MacGregor-Scott discusses this on an added feature on the new transfer DVD and says that the man has been erased digitally from the film. The odd thing is that the engineer, seen in closeup, bears a remarkable resemblance to Peter MacGregor-Scott himself and might even be him, judging by the latter's joking about the unwanted character in the film.

You switched the samples! You switched the samples after Lenz died! Did you kill Lenz, too? Huh? He falsified his research. He switched the samples so that RDU-90 could be approved and Devlin McGregor could give you... Provasic! (Dr. Richard Kimble)

Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes Style

"Come at once if convenient - if Inconvenient come all the same .."

A piece of "command" was actually a Sherlock Holmes brief message to his friend, Dr. John H Watson, before the detective met his nemesis, Professor James Moriarty in a gun place in Germany.

A cut scene in the sequel of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" made by British director Guy Ritchie.

But the sentence was a bit much can also be freely interpreted as a Ritchie's "secret message" for tens of thousands Sherlock Holmes fan by Sir Conan Arthur Doyle, work aside to like it or not they all still come to the cinema and watching the movies.

It's no secret if Guy Ritchie eat protests to his Sherlock Holmes, which was launched in 2009, mainly from the UK's super detective fans who objected to the way Ritchie described Holmes-Watson relationship is more like a loveconnection than a co-worker or friend.

Some even openly called if Sherlock Holmes that they witnessed in 2009 is Holmes who figmened by Ritchie's imagination rather than without equal Doyle's detective.

But Ritchie is proud to retain his style for the sequel Holmes of Warner Bros., which was launched right at the end of the 2011.

Movie with have duration of 129 minutes does not offer something new and truly "just" duplicating from previous movie, ranging from camera angles and style of "video games" Ritchie up to the interaction between Holmes and Dr. Watson - the way they quarrels with each sentence to one another chimed in between fights.

One thing that is unfortunate for a sequel that have been waited for two years of its emergence. However, fortunately it did not reduce the quality of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" because of Ritchie's first film was success, regardless from reaction by fans of Sherlock Holmes novel version.

Ritchie praised by a number of critics as being able to create a different and fresh Holmes, did not get caught up in a raw portrait of a pipe-legged detective.

Madonna's ex-husband was also considered capable makes small detail figure of Holmes in Doyle's novel to become a force in movie. For example, the style of "Rambo" Holmes.

Even in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" about 65 percent is a little more action scenes that will remind to previous movie "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" full of fight scenes with bare hand or weapons.

Some of us might be wondering whether the British Holmes does have expertise martial Like "Rambo" and instead of a "gentleman" of English with fine behavior.

In his novel entitled "The Sign of the Four", Holmes is described as an empty-handed boxer who is very great. Meanwhile, in "The Yellow Face" Watson describes Holmes as an expert using a gun and have the physical endurance far above average.
